Position Title: Training and Development Specialist
Annual Salary: $63,320 to $65,520
Location: New York City
FTE: Full Time Position
Scope of Responsibility:
The Training and Development Specialist in New York City will work to provide training, technical assistance, and other activities as requested to support OTDA initiatives related to training its field-based staff. This includes the Department of Social Services district staff and Human Resource Administration staff at various locations.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Training Project Coordinator
Job Duties:
- One-on-one training, overview, and classroom instruction to the Department of Social Services district and Human Resource Administration (HRA) staff at various field locations;
- Assisting State staff with monitoring of policy applications TANF/SNAP;
- Assisting in identifying errors in case processing and the development of responsive training to ensure corrective action of the identified training need;
- Providing individual-level training and technical assistance in support of case processing, policy applications, implementation needs, Paperless Office Systems (POS), HRA One Viewer, and any additional supportive training/technical assistance needed;
- Assisting with the preparation of written training documentation and associated reports as necessary;
- Timely submission of required documentation (e.g., quarterly reports, timesheets, performance appraisals, specified reports as directed, etc.); and
- Other duties as assigned by LEADS supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least one year of experience working in a social services setting or providing human services training or related activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment under supervision
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong team and customer service orientation
- Demonstrated proficiencies using Microsoft products, particularly Office 365, Word, Excel, and Teams
- Ability to work variable days to meet operational objectives
- Ability to travel throughout New York City (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) to deliver training, technical assistance, or attend meetings as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of experience providing social or human services training or related activities
- Specific knowledge or experience in the delivery of social services programs such as TA, HEAP, or SNAP
- Experience working in or with a community-based organization, state, or county social services agency
- Familiarity and experience using Web conferencing technology (i.e., Zoom, WebEx)
- Experience using Abode Acrobat Pro
